About Yvany Peery

Ms. Peery provides individual counseling and couples counseling to adults of all ages.

As a couples therapist, Ms. Peery is trained in the Gottman Method of couples counseling. The Gottman Method is a highly effective evidence-based approach developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman.

Ms. Peery works with heterosexual couples, gay and lesbian couples, and queer couples.

As an individual therapist, Ms. Peery specializes in working with those who have experienced complex trauma and loss/grief.

She also focuses on anxiety disorders, attachment issues, life transitions, and work confidence. In addition, Ms. Peery provides neuro-affirming care for her clients.

As a trauma therapist, Ms. Peery uses an eclectic approach. She incorporates EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), as well as elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems (IFS), mindfulness and somatic experiencing.

A native of Washington, D.C., Ms. Peery has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree from Howard University.

She is licensed to practice in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

Ms. Peery provides daytime and evening appointments. She offers teletherapy sessions and in-person therapy.
