About Michelle Lawlor
Ms. Lawlor provides individual therapy and group therapy. She primarily works with young adults (20s and 30s) and specializes in substance abuse, anxiety and depression.
Ms. Lawlor uses an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing on elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).
Before joining DC Talk Therapy, Ms. Lawlor worked for the City of Alexandria (Va.), providing individual therapy for clients with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. In addition, she led a variety of therapy groups. Ms. Lawlor has also worked at Kolmac Clinic, a well respected substance abuse clinic in Washington, D.C., as an addictions counselor.
A native New Yorker, Ms. Lawlor received her undergraduate degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. She has a graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University in Arlington, Va.
Ms. Lawlor is licensed to practice in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Additionally, she is a member of the American Counseling Association and National Board for Certified Counselors.
In the spring of 2023, Ms. Lawlor will run a weekly anxiety group for young adults. It will be held in her office on Tuesdays from 6-7:15 pm and run for 10 consecutive weeks.

Ms. Lawlor offers afternoons, evening and Saturday appointments. She offers teletherapy (online therapy) on a variety of platforms, including Doxy and Zoom.
