Ms. Karray draws on a variety of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-informed therapy. She recently completed training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT).

CBT is a heavily researched and popular form of psychotherapy that links our thoughts to our feelings and behaviors. It has been found to be particularly helpful in the treatment of anxiety and depression.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy focuses on the psychological roots of emotional suffering. Self-reflection and self-examination are its hallmarks. The use of the relationship between therapist and client is also important, as it often provides a window into problematic relationship patterns in the client’s life.

Having grown up in Montgomery County, Md., Ms. Karray attended the University of Maryland for her undergraduate degree in psychology. She received her masters degree in social work from Columbia University in New York.

Before joining DC Talk Therapy, Ms. Karray worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., and in a group practice in Northern Virginia.
