Eve Sussman provides individual therapy to adults of all ages who are experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and challenges related to complex family dynamics. She also has extensive experience working with perfectionism and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Ms. Sussman takes an integrative approach to therapy, incorporating techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
CBT is a well-researched and effective form of therapy that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns, which in turn can lead to improved feelings and behaviors. Narrative therapy helps clients reshape the stories they tell about themselves and their experiences, promoting a more empowering self-narrative. Psychodynamic psychotherapy delves into how past experiences and unconscious processes influence current behaviors and emotions, fostering deeper self-awareness.
Eve’s relational and conversational style makes her sessions engaging and approachable, helping clients feel heard and supported.
She offers both in-person therapy and teletherapy sessions, with daytime and evening availability. Eve is licensed in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Massachusetts, and she will begin accepting new clients the first week of March.
Before joining DC Talk Therapy, Ms. Sussman worked with adults in a variety of settings, including a national mental healthcare organization, community mental health services, and a therapeutic school.
A native of Connecticut, she earned her master’s degree in social work from Smith College in Massachusetts and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Denison University in Ohio.
Eve has also completed specialized training in OCD through the Center for Anxiety and Behavior Therapy in Pennsylvania.
