About Carla Brun

Carla Brun provides individual counseling, specializing in anxiety, trauma, PTSD, self-esteem and identity issues.
In addition to being a licensed clinical social worker, Ms. Brun is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, designated by the International Association of Trauma Professionals.
As the daughter of Bolivian immigrants, Ms. Brun is sensitive to the unique challenges of first-generation Americans. She is fluent in Spanish and offers bilingual psychotherapy sessions to those whose primary language is English.
With a holistic approach to psychotherapy, Ms. Brun integrates mindfulness, CBT, and psychodynamic therapy into her practice. She welcomes discussions about the impact that our identities have on us, whether it has to do with race, religion, spirituality, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, or other identities.
Ms. Brun has a master’s degree in clinical social work from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology (cum laude) from American University. In addition, she received a postgraduate psychotherapy training from the National Institute for the Psychotherapies.
She is currently training to become a certified EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) specialist. EMDR is a form of psychotherapy often used for those who have experienced trauma.
Prior to joining DC Talk Therapy, Ms. Brun worked as a psychotherapist at a community mental health clinic and at a private group practice in New York City.
Ms. Brun offers daytime and evening appointments. She offers teletherapy, or online therapy, on a variety of video platforms, including Doxy and Zoom.
