Carla Brun specializes in anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and prenatal/postpartum mental health.
As a Latina therapist and first-generation American, Ms. Brun is sensitive to the unique challenges that Latines and children of immigrants face.
She offers bilingual Spanish/English sessions to clients whose primary language is English.
With a holistic approach to psychotherapy, Ms. Brun integrates mindfulness, CBT, and psychodynamic therapy into her practice. She welcomes discussions about the impact that our identities have on us, whether it has to do with race, religion, spirituality, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, or other identities.
Ms. Brun has a master’s degree in clinical social work from New York University. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology (cum laude) from American University.
She received postgraduate psychotherapy training from the National Institute for the Psychotherapies and perinatal mental health training from Postpartum Support International. Ms. Brun is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (trauma therapist), designated by the International Association of Trauma Professionals.
Prior to joining DC Talk Therapy, Ms. Brun worked as a psychotherapist at a community mental health clinic. She also worked at a private group practice in New York City.
Ms. Brun is currently available for weekday morning and afternoon appointments. She offers teletherapy, or online therapy, on a variety of video platforms, including Doxy and Zoom.
