About Amanda Shapiro

Amanda Shapiro is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in working with young adults (20s and 30s), particularly college students and graduate students who have difficulty making decisions in their lives. She also specializes in working with mothers adjusting to the major life transitions that accompany parenthood.
Ms. Shapiro has advanced training in issues related to infertility, as well as with depression and anxiety during pregnancy and after birth. She has experience working with survivors of violence, sexual assault, and childhood sexual abuse. Ms. Shapiro is proficient in German.
She previously worked at the Women’s Center in Vienna, Va., the Center for Abused Persons in Waldorf, Md., and Family Matters of Greater Washington.
Ms. Shapiro has a master’s degree in social work from George Mason University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
Ms. Shapiro is currently on maternity leave and not seeing clients.
