Insurance and Payment
All of our therapists are out-of-network providers for all of the major insurance companies, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna and United Health Care.
Out-of-network psychotherapy coverage varies by carrier and policy, and it can be confusing if you don’t know the right questions to ask. That’s why our office administrator, Leah Sugarman, will call your insurance company for you and find out your coverage for you and then either call you or email you with that information.
Even though we are an out-of-network practice, clients almost always have out-of-network benefits and many times they are reimbursed between 50-80% of our fees.
How come you’re not in-network? Our therapists have made a conscious choice to go out-of-network, thereby working for you, the client, and not the insurance company. Insurance companies may not only dictate the length of your treatment but also the kind of treatment you receive. In addition, it can request detailed information about the client that the client may not want to disclose. Our therapists prefer to avoid all of that and work with the client’s best interests in mind.
What payment do you accept? Our therapists accept credit cards/debit cards (VISA, MasterCard and Discover), personal checks or cash. Payment is expected at the time of service. Most clients choose to pay with their credit card since that is the easiest and most convenient. We do not add a service fee for paying with a credit card, nor do we swipe your card at each session. We simply get your credit card information from you over the phone prior to the first session and store it on a secured site for future use.
We provide therapy clients with a typed statement on the 5th of each month for those who want to submit for reimbursement from their insurance company. Note: Some clients choose not to file for reimbursement for confidentiality reasons. We respect that choice.
